Dr Khalil ‘Avi’ Betz-Heinemann
Hello! I am currently writing a theory of human-animal biology, producing a film on fishing, homelessness, tuberculosis and unicorns, and teaching a masters on global public health.

Where am I from?

Growing up in a tent and later a caravan circling the Mediterranean Sea, I did not make friends with any one land. At first I believed the Moon was my land, as it was the only landscape I saw regularly. In time I developed a longstanding connection with Northern Cyprus which informed my doctoral research. Most recently I have followed my three sisters to the south-east region of Bristol in England. Sephardi, Schwäbisch, and Sufi are also threads of my heritage.
